Friday the 13th Full of Tricks & Treats for Metro's

Friday the 13th saw the biggest divide between our 2 metro teams we are likely to see. Both playing at 630pm, however Metro 4 were in Albany Creek, while Metro 6 were at the other end of Brisbane visiting the Park Ridgians.

Both teams took a hit and run mission to both grounds, leaving with all the candy and the points. Metro 4 went up early 3-0 before being pegged back to 3-2 in the second half. Everyones favourite scousers Lee Fazal (2) and Andy Lang (1) picked up the goals on the night.

It was pretty much the same story at Park Ridge. The 6's went up 3-0 early on, before having the fiery Scottish-Tsar Kirill Radchenalenko sent off, but finished off the game. Danny Z got his now customary 2 goals, Chaiy 'Chaotic' Donati added to his tally with another brace, while Michael 'Welshy' Hanbury got his first goal for the Piney Rovers to send the crowd into raptures.

Brave KPR unable to reel in rampant Annerley

Saturday April 14th

KPR went into the difficult away game to league leaders and local rivals Annerley without 3 of their star midfielders. Danny Gowans (back), Maurice Gamble (Groin), and Ciaran Lawler (Hamstring) were all unavailable for the fixture, but are hoping to be fresh for the busy schedule in the weeks ahead with 4 games in 13 days. Kieron O'Connor, with 4 goals in the last 2 games was also unavailable.

Thanks to the depth in the squad we were however still able to field a strong squad, and Coach Adrian Elmes was hopeful to stop the Annerley juggernaut that had won 5 out of 5 to start the season.

Things couldn't have gotten off to a worse start, with Annerley absolutely pounding the KPR goals and unlucky to miss off a few chances, with Niall O'Carroll keeping KPR on level grounds, before an absolute screamer from Annerleys star recruit Seamus McAnnelly rocketed into the top corner.

It didn't take long for KPR to equalise off a smart set play that saw Niall Manton head the ball into the net. We were unlucky not to go ahead off yet another set play, with Stephen Verschoyle just missing with his head.

KPR went behind in the 2nd half, after an unlucky deflection left O'Carroll stranded, and we were desperately unlucky not to get more from the game with a legitimate penalty claim off Sam Pullen denied, and a close offside call going the wrong way from Damian Kealy who buried the ball in the net.

Class Goals sees KPR win 3-0 to get season back on track

Two classy goals to fit again striker Barry Kelly and a clinical header by James Seviour saw KPR take a brilliant 3-0 victory against Annerley. Barry Kelly, in just his 2nd game of the year, had begged Coach Steve Silvester for another chance up front after scoring in his last start. He repaid the faith with interest scoring to class goals to set the KPR victory on its way.

James Seviour sealed the win with a header, and KPR went into the break 3-0 up. Annerley applied alot of pressure in th 2nd half trying to get back into the game, but the experience and passing game of KPR was too much for them to handle, as Annerley players became increasingly isolated on their large pitch by slick passing by the KPR backs and mids.

Barry Kelly now has 3 goals in 2 games, and has been man of the match in both performances in a clear sign he is ready to make a mark on this season.

Bethania fall prey to a ruthless KPR display

KPR turned in yet another solid defensive display, with their 3rd cleansheet in 5 games as they ruthlessly disposed of a hapless Bethania side.

Coaches Fabio and Joe have turned the womens side into a defensive juggernaut that has now gone over 180 minutes without conceding a goal.

Key to this is ex-goal keeper Suzannah 'Spidey' Boulter moving out from the sticks to help shore up the defense and midfield with vision and communication to keep the team moving smoothly.

She has been equally ruthless at the other end of the field, where she banged in her 3rd goal of the season to give her some breathing space in the Womens golden boot standings.
